BLOODY BUG JUICE

Ingredients:

  1. 24 oz Frozen strawberries - thawed
  2. 6 oz Lemonade, frozen concentrate
  3. 1 qt Ginger ale
  4. 1 c Raisins
  5. 1 c Blueberries - fresh or frozen

Preparation:

Place the strawberries in a bowl and mash with a fork. In a large pitcher, mix the strawberry mash, lemonade and ginger ale. Place handfuls of raisins and blueberries (bugs) into tall glasses. Pour the liquid over the bugs, then sit back and watch the bugs and scum rise to the top of each glass. To quench a creepy crowd's thirst, double or triple this recipe and serve in a punch bowl. HALLOWEEN CHILI

Ingredients:

  1. 1 1/4 Pounds ground goblin gizzards (ground beef 15% fat)
  2. 1 Medium eye of Cyclops (onion)
  3. 1 15 Oz. Can soft shelled beetles (kidney beans)
  4. 1 28 Oz. Can blood of bat (V-8 juice)
  5. 1/8 Teaspoon pureed wasp (prepared mustard)
  6. 1/4 Teaspoon common dried weed (oregano)
  7. 1 Dash Redtailed hawk toenails (crushed red pepper)
  8. 2 Teaspoons ground sumac blossom (chili powder)
  9. 1 Teaspoon hemlock (honey or sugar)
  10. 1/2 Cup fresh grubs (sliced celery)
  11. 1 Tablespoon eye of Newt (pearled barley)
  12. 1 Tablespoon dried maggots (uncooked rice)
  13. Water from a stagnant pond (tap water)

Preparation:

Substitutions are in parenthesis. Best made during the last phase of the moon, if that is not possible, just do the best you can in a softly lighted kitchen after dark. Brown the gizzards in an iron cauldron over a fire made from the siding off of a haunted house, add chopped eye of cyclops and simmer until the pieces of eye become translucent again, add blood of bat, and soft shelled beetles, bring to a slow bubbling boil. At this time, add the common weed, maggots, toenails, sumac, grubs, hemlock, eye of newt and the pureed wasp. As it cooks you may want to adjust the consistency with pond water. You can tell it is done when the eye of newt swells and the vertical tan colored 'cats eye' appears on one side.

MONSTER MUNCH

Ingredients:

  1. 1 Cup Dry roast peanuts
  2. 1/3 Cup Butter or margerine
  3. 1 Pound Marshmallows
  4. 1/2 Cup Peanut butter
  5. 3 Cups Puffed rice cereal
  6. 1 Cup Apricots -- chopped
  7. 1 Cup Raisins

Preparation:

In a large bowl, combine cereal, apricots, raisins and peanuts. In a microwave safe 13x9", melt butter and marshmallows on high for 2 minutes. Stir; add peanut butter cook on high 2 minutes longer. Stir until well blended, add cereal mixture to dish and toss until well coated. Working quickly with greased hand, form into balls, using about 1/2 C mixture, per ball. If mixture begins to harden, cook on high for 30 seconds, or until softened. If desired , mixture may be spread in unbuttered 13x9" dish and cooled and cut into bars. Makes 1 dozen balls or 2 dozen bars, This is very similar to the Rice Krispie treats, but with the apricots and raisins it definitely gives it a fall look. I saw another idea of putting the mixture into cookie cutters, and letting it cool there so the shapes could be pumpkins, witches, etc. With a little gel piping they would be great.
